Weather Protection
Our exterior timber doors are designed for long-lasting performance when correctly installed and maintained. As timber is a natural material, it will expand and contract with changes in temperature, humidity and weather conditions.
To maximise the life and appearance of your door:
All six surfaces, including the top and bottom edges, must be properly sealed and finished before or immediately after installation.
Exterior doors must be installed with adequate overhead protection to minimise direct exposure to rain and sunlight.
Light-coloured finishes are recommended, as dark colours absorb more heat and may increase the risk of movement, bowing or warping.
Regular inspection and maintenance of the finish is essential. Any signs of coating deterioration should be addressed promptly by resealing or refinishing the door.
Failure to provide adequate weather protection or proper maintenance may affect the performance of the door and may void the product warranty.
Overhead Protection
To minimise weather exposure and ensure long-term performance, all exterior timber doors must be protected by a suitable overhead canopy or porch.
The required overhead protection depends on the door orientation and local climate.

Diagram Reference
A = Minimum overhead projection.
B = Vertical height from the underside of the overhead protection to the bottom of the door.
C = Width of the overhead protection, which should be at least the full width of the doorway.
Failure to provide adequate overhead protection may result in excessive weather exposure, which can contribute to movement, bowing, twisting, warping or finish deterioration. Damage resulting from insufficient weather protection is not covered under warranty.
