1. Material Characteristics

Our solid barn doors are made from natural pine and oak wood slices containing active timber fibers. Real solid wood naturally expands, contracts and reacts to environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light. This may result in:

· Minor size changes (expansion or shrinkage)

· Slight cupping or warping

· Small or localized surface cracks

These are natural behaviours of timber, not manufacturing defects.

Please understand that such changes are part of the beauty and authenticity of solid wood.

 

2. Pre-Installation Requirements

2.1 Storage Conditions

Before installation, ensure the door is stored properly:

· Do not store on damp floors, open garages, balconies, or outdoors

· Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources (heaters, dryers, AC exhaust, etc.)

· Store flat in a dry, well-ventilated indoor environment

· Keep humidity at 35–65%RH and temperature 10–30°C

Improper storage may cause moisture absorption, cracking, or warping.

2.2 Acclimation Before Installation

Allow the door to acclimate at the installation site for 48–72 hours. Skipping this step may cause future deformation or size variation.

2.3 Installation Requirements

· Allow proper expansion gaps around all edges

· Ensure hardware is level and correctly supported

· Indoor use only

· Delay installation if walls or floors are still wet in new construction

 

3. Usage & Care Instructions

3.1 Indoor Environment Maintenance

To extend the door’s lifespan, maintain:

· Humidity: 35–65%RH

· Temperature: below 40°C

· Avoid direct airflow from AC or heaters

· Use humidifiers during dry seasons, dehumidifiers during humid seasons Extreme humidity (<20% or >80%) can accelerate cracking or warping.

3.2 Cleaning & Maintenance

· Clean with a soft, dry cloth

· Avoid alcohol, bleach, harsh chemicals, or oily products

· Repair damaged paint or finish promptly to prevent moisture ingress

3.3 Usage Guidelines

· Door must be stained or painted before use

· Avoid prolonged water exposure at the bottom edge

· Prevent rain or humid airflow from blowing directly onto the door

 

4. Natural Wood Behaviour Disclaimer

Natural solid wood will inevitably show:

· Fine cracks along the grain

· Minor warping (industry tolerance ±3–5 mm depending on size)

· Seasonal dryness cracks in winter

· Slight swelling in humid summer

These are natural wood characteristics, not defects.

 

5. Transport Precautions

· Doors are packed with foam, cardboard, and protective corners

· Handle vertically during movement when possible

· Avoid moisture, rain, or direct sunlight during transit

· Secure horizontally for long-distance transport
