Barn Door Hardware Australia

Barn door hardware is the track, rollers and fittings that carry a sliding barn door and keep it running smoothly. Our kits come in side mount and top mount styles, in black powder coat, white, gold and stainless steel finishes, and each kit includes what you need to hang a single door.

What comes in a hardware kit

Our side mount (B02) and top mount (B01) kits suit timber and hollow core doors 35 to 45 mm thick and weighing up to 120 kg. Each kit includes the track, a pair of rollers, door stoppers, a floor guide, anti-jump blocks and standard screws. Standard track lengths run from 1.25 m to 4 m, with a single no-joint rail available up to 3 m, and custom lengths can be made to order. Soft-close and a backing board are available as options.

Choosing your track

Side mount hardware fixes the rollers to the face of the door, while top mount hardware fixes them to the top edge, which gives a cleaner look from the front. Match the kit to your door’s weight and thickness, and choose a track long enough for the door to slide fully clear of the opening. If your wall studs don’t line up with the fixing points, add a solid hardwood backing board, 100 mm wide and 23 mm thick, to carry the track.

Finishes and specialist systems

If you prefer no visible track at all, see our trackless sliding door systems. Finish your door with our barn door handles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What weight rating should barn door hardware have?

Choose a kit rated for more than your door weighs. Our B01 top mount and B02 side mount kits carry doors up to 120 kg and suit doors 35 to 45 mm thick. Check the door’s weight on its product page, and allow extra margin for solid timber or framed glass doors, which are heavier than they look.

What is included in your barn door hardware kits?

Our side mount and top mount kits include the track, a pair of rollers, door stoppers, a floor guide, anti-jump blocks and standard screws. Handles, locks, soft-close units and backing boards are sold separately unless a product is listed as a package. Check the What’s Included section on each product page before ordering.

How do I choose the right barn door track length for my opening?

The track must be long enough for the door to slide fully clear of the opening. As a rule of thumb, that is about twice the width of the door. Our standard tracks run from 1.25 m to 4 m, with a single no-joint rail up to 3 m, and custom lengths are available. Check for light switches, windows and corners along the wall before choosing a length.

Can I use your hardware with a door I bought elsewhere?

Usually, yes, as long as the door is within the kit’s limits. For our B01 and B02 kits, that means a door 35 to 45 mm thick and no heavier than 120 kg, with solid timber at the roller fixing points. Glass, very thin or lightweight hollow core doors may need special fittings, so confirm the door’s full specifications with us first.

Can I add soft-close to my barn door?

Yes, on selected kits. Soft-close is available as an option on our side mount and top mount hardware, and it slows the door as it reaches the end of the track so it doesn’t slam. Whether it suits your setup depends on the track length, door weight and available travel, so confirm the kit model when ordering or retrofitting.

Do I need a floor guide for a barn door?

Yes. A floor guide keeps the bottom of the door aligned and stops it swinging away from the wall, and one is included in our standard kits. If you can’t drill into the floor, for example over heated or tiled floors, a wall-mounted guide may be an option.

Can a sliding barn door be locked?

Yes. Privacy latches and hook locks are available for single and double sliding barn doors. The right lock depends on the gap between the door and the wall, the closing edge, and whether you need to open it from one side or both. Bathrooms and bedrooms usually need a privacy lock that works from the inside.
